Newest Flavors and Trends
It’s hard to believe, but there are as many flavors of jam, jelly and preserves as there are ice cream. The list grows each year; in fact, in 1997, 240 new products were introduced. Horseradish jelly, spicy carrot marmalade and lavender jelly are just three types of new jams and jellies to hit gourmet stores and supermarket shelves in the last few years. There are jellies made from tea, such as rose and Earl Grey jelly, or from liqueurs, such as jelly made with orange brandy. Some jellies are being combined with nuts, while others are being mixed with salad dressing, such as Balsamic vinegar. Herb jellies also are hitting the market, such as those made with chamomile, and rose geranium.
